A unique trip to discover what Portugal has to offer, in excellent 4* and boutique hotels, with gourmet meals, visits to wineries and one Quinta at Douro Valley
Arrival at Oporto airport and private transfer to the hotel. A welcome dinner will be served tonight. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast buffet. Departure for a panoramic city tour. We will see the station of S. Bento and Avenida dos Aliados, with the imposing City Hall and the equestrian statue of D. Pedro I of Brazil. Continuation to the area of Foz and the mouth of the river Douro until we reach the typical Ribeira district. Visit of the Stock Exchange Palace, with the exotic Arab hall. After Crossing D. Luís Bridge, we arrive in Gaia, where Port wine cellars are located. Visit and tasting at one of the cellars. Free time for lunch and departure to Braga, where we will visit the beautiful Baroque Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. After some free time to see the beautiful gardens, we continue to the city center where we will see Santa Bárbara Gardens and the beautiful Cathedral. Free time at leisure before we continue to Guimarães, birthplace of Portugal. Rest of the day free. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast we start the visit of Guimarães, considered the cradle of the Nation, where the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, was born. We initiate the tour with the Castle and Chapel of St. Michael, see the palace of the Dukes of Bragança and walk to the lovely historical center, classified as World Heritage Site. We continue our journey to Amarante, where we will stop for lunch at restaurant Largo do Paço (1* Michelin). Crossing Serra do Marão, we arrive in Vila Real and Mateus Palace, to visit the lovely gardens. Continuing to the spectacular Douro Valley, the oldest DOC region in the world and a World Heritage Site, we will see the wonderful landscapes with terraced vineyards that produce the famous Port Wine and some of the best table wines in the world. Overnight at the hotel.
Buffet breakfast and free time for leisure. Transfer to a Wine Farm at Douro region to visit the property, followed by an experience of wine “blind tasting” and a delicious enogastronomic lunch. The best Douro wines are produced from grapes grown on the banks of the river. After lunch, return to the hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy your hotel and rest or take a relaxing boat trip. Overnight at the hotel.

Continuation to Viseu, for a walk through the charming historic center, known for the wine of Dão region and for being the home of the Lusitanos, who resisted the invading Roman legions. Visit of the Grão Vasco Museum, where we can appreciate some of the most important works of Portuguese painting, from the 16th to the 20th centuries, with emphasis on the "Adoration of the Magi," in which Baltazar is portrayed with ornaments of a Tupinamba Indian. Lunch at local restaurant. Continuation to the region of Ílhavo, where is located the factory of the famous Vista Alegre Porcelain. Visit of the brand new museum, installed in the old furnaces of the factory, which will show us the whole history of this famous manufacture. Finally, we have a short trip to Aveiro, city of canals, egg candy, moliceiros boats and salt beds. Accommodation.


REMARK:
On 12 jun departure the Maritime Museum is closed. As a replacement we will make a promenade in a "Moliceiro boat" in Aveiro and the visit of the Porcelain Musem will take place on day 6.

Departure for a visit to the Maritime Museum and its Codfish Aquarium, where we can watch living specimens of the most apreciated fish of Portuguese gastronomy. Continuation to Quinta do Encontro, located in the center of the Bairrada region, including visit and tasting of several wines. We then have a reservation for lunch at a local restaurant were they serve the famous roasted suckling pig. In the afternoon, we continue to Coimbra, to know one of the most famous university cities in Europe, with its fantastic Baroque Library. Then, we proceed to our hotel in Tomar. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

On closing days of the Library, we will visit Capelo's Room and St. Michael Chapel
After breakfast, it’s time to drive to Fátima and visit the famous Marian Sanctuary, that celebrated 100 years of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Free time to visit and continuation to Óbidos, a beautiful medieval village surrounded by walls originally built in the 11th century. Stroll through its white narrow streets filled with flowers and enjoy a “ginjinha” (included), while enjoying the beautiful streets of this fortified village. Continue to Lisbon and check in at the hotel. Overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Queluz to visit the beautiful Royal Palace. Later we continue to the village of Sintra, former summer residence of kings of Portugal, who built several palaces there. Free time for sightseeing. Continuation to Cascais, one of the most elegant residential areas in the country. Free time for lunch and continuation along the coast of Estoril. Arriving in Lisbon, we start the city tour of the lovely Portuguese capital with the Tower of Belém, the Monument to the Discoveries and St. Jerome’s Monastery (visit of the church). Free time to taste the famous custard cake "Pastel de Belém". Continuation through Marquês de Pombal Square and Avenida da Liberdade, full of designer shops, after wich we will arrive at Baixa Pombalina, where Restauradores, Rossio and Commerce Squares are located. This evening we suggest dining in one of the best Fado houses in town.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to discover the city, visit some museum, shop at the Freeport Outlet, or just rest. This evening we have a farewell dinner with a tasting menu in a good restaurant of Lisbon. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Lisbon airport for your return flight. Thank you for traveling with us and enjoy your flight home!
